Graphics Student in final of textile design competition

A City of Liverpool College student has made it through to the final of a competition that could see her winning textile on display in top venues and businesses up and down the country.

Mature student Sunil Kim Wareing, studying on L3 Digital Art & Design at the Arts Centre on Myrtle Street, made it to final four in a competition run by Danish textiles manufacturer, Ege, and FX magazine to design a floor covering for use in popular commercial outlets across the UK.  These include public areas and arenas such as hotels, public buildings and airport lounges, which are long established venues where top notch textiles go hand in hand with cutting edge interior design.

Sunil’s place in the final was announced in April after her creation was chosen from hundreds of entries, including several from designers already working in the industry.

Courtesy of the competition organisers, forty-four-year-old Sunil will travel with other finalists to the Ege factory in Denmark on 25-26 April, where the winning design will be announced.

The prize includes an all-expenses paid weekend break for two in Copenhagen plus 500 Euros spending money, and the chance to see the winning design reproduced and displayed at Ege’s London showroom in May 2018 during this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week.

Runners-up will each receive a branded goody bag and samples of their carpets, as well as having their designs featured in FX magazine.
