Job Description:

We are looking to train an apprentice in a range of construction skills to support our building and construction company based in Upton, Wirral. We are an award winning company supplying extensions, conversions, home improvements, and renovations for both domestic and commercial properties.

As a maintenance operations apprentice you will learn the basics of several trades including brickwork, site joinery, plastering, painting and decorating and some tiling.

You would normally be part of a small team, and work on helping with in one of the following:

  • Basic plastering
  • Basic brickwork tasks
  • Basic tiling in bathrooms, kitchens, etc
  • Basic site joinery – skirting boards, etc
  • Painting and Decorating

 

Skills Required:

To be a multi-skilled operative, you will need to have:

  • Good practical skills
  • The ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Maths skills for calculating surface areas and volumes of materials
  • A reasonable level of fitness
  • A flexible approach to learning and practising different skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • An awareness of health and safety issues

  • Willing to learn

 

Qualifications Required:

Ideally a Level 1 qualification in a construction related skills is required.

Maths GCSE C or grade 4 and above would be desirable, however, we will consider applications from candidates who do not have these previous qualifications.

 

Expected Duration of Apprenticeship:

18 - 24 months

 

Training to be Provided:

One day per week in the City of Liverpool College (term time) Vauxhall Road Campus, Liverpool L3 6BN.

Maintenance Operations Level 2 NVQ Diploma

Functional Skills in English and Maths where appropriate

 

Future Prospects:

Potential full-time role on successful completion

 

Reality Check:

You must be willing to start your working day early and keep up with the pace of the team.

The majority of our work is in the Wirral and the surrounding area.

 

Important Information:

This course will provide a surface knowledge only of each of the trade skills listed. There is no Level 3 course for this apprenticeship.

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by the Government for non-levy paying employers. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
