Vacancy Description   

We are looking to recruit an apprentice chef for our restaurant in Smithdown Road Liverpool.   

We need an apprentice commis chef who is passionate about food and learning from our excellent chefs to help prepare and cook our street food menu that offers flavour with flair.

It is important that you work as a team member; provide polite and efficient service at all times to customers and staff.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain health, hygiene and safety when storing and preparing food

  • Prepare breakfasts

  • Prepare ingredients

  • Prepare basic vegetable dishes

  • Prepare basic meat and poultry dishes

  • Prepare pasta dishes

  • Prepare basic soups

  • Prepare basic fish dishes

  • Set up and close kitchen

  • Take directions and guidance from supervisors and managers.

  • Work as part of a team

Employer Description

It's not fast food, it's flavour, with flair. Street food, cocktails, spirits, desserts & beers. Open 9.30am - 2pm for breakfast then normal service until 10pm every day!! Bar is open until 11pm Sunday to Monday and 11.30pm the rest of the week.


Skills Required

  • Basic knife skills

  • Some experience of cooking

  • Willingness to learn

  • Ability to communicate at all levels

  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow procedures/instructions.


Qualifications Required   

Ideally Level 2/GCSE C or above in Maths and English or equivalent but not essential.


Training to be Provided

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Hospitality Services (Food Preparation) – one day per week at Duke Street site in Liverpool city centre plus Functional Skills in English and Maths if required.


Expected Duration

12-18 months.


Future Prospects   

Further training and permanent employment are available for the right candidate.


Other Important Information

 Must have good travel access to restaurant, either via public transport or own vehicle

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by the Government for non-levy paying employers. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
