The City of Liverpool College provides its workforce with a generous package of benefits along with opportunities for ongoing professional development.

These are just some of the benefits you will enjoy as an employee of the College.


Financial


Award for Long Service

 

Long service awards are presented to employees after 25 years service. This is received in the form of a £300 gift voucher.


Car Sharing Scheme

 

A car sharing scheme puts people travelling in the same direction in contact with each other, in order to share the cost of commuting to and from work, whilst also reducing congestion and pollution on our roads. 

The programme also offers added benefits, including greater personal security in the event of a breakdown and an opportunity to build on social networks across the College Group through contact with staff outside your immediate working environment.


City Centre Parking Scheme

  

Staff can take advantage of the preferential rate enjoyed with Secure Parking.  Staff can purchase a monthly parking permit for the carpark located in Heathfield Street, Liverpool L1 4AT (access via  Renshaw Street).

This scheme offers 24/7 secure parking at a discounted monthly rate of £80, which operates on a rolling monthly basis (minimum term of 3 months). 1 month's notice is required to end the arrangement.


Cycle to work scheme

  

The College Group offers a Cycle-to-Work scheme through Evans Cycles. This scheme promotes cycling through tax incentives, to give you great savings across their range of bikes, clothing and accessories.

As well as savings of up to 42%, Ride-to-Work gives you even more with up to £60 worth of free clothing or accessories. Also, if you choose to get a bike, they’ll service it FREE for the first year.


Pension Scheme

 

There are currently four occupational pension schemes administered by the College Group. They are the Local Government Pension Scheme(LGPS); the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS); Nest Pensions; and the Aviva Pension Scheme. Your pension provider will depend on the role undertaken with the college.

Pension contributions are paid by The College Group; in addition you will also get tax relief on your own contributions.

Travel Loan Scheme

  

The College Group offers an interest free loan to enable staff to purchase annual travel tickets from both Merseytravel and Merseyrail.

Purchasing an annual tickets offers the financial benefit of up to two months free travel, compared to purchasing tickets on a monthly basis. Staff can enjoy the financial benefit without having to fund the cost of the ticket up front.


Health & Wellbeing


 The Academy Hair & Beauty Salons

 

As a member of the workforce, you have access to the College's onsite hair and beauty training salons located at the Duke Street campus.

Discounts are available to staff on a wide range of hair and beauty treatments, which include styling, cutting, perming and highlights, manicures, facials, electrolysis and both traditional and homeopathic massage.

All styling and treatments are performed to the highest standard, under the guidance of fully qualified industry specialists, and at a fraction of similar treatments readily available on the high street. 


The Academy Restaurant

 

As a member of staff, you will also have access to the College's award winning Academy Restaurant, also based at the Duke Street Centre. It offers a-la-carte menus produced by our students in training, and supervised by a team of staff including dedicated, top chefs. 

The Academy also runs a range of special offers and dining experiences throughout the academic year which are aimed at staff.


Counselling Service

 

The College provides access to a free, independent, confidential 24-hour telephone counselling service to support employees through crisis or persistent work or personal issues.

Staff can also access this service through our employee assistance programme, where highly experienced and professionally trained counsellors are on hand offering debt, health and legal advice.


Eye care vouchers

  

As a member of the workforce, Visual Display Unit users are entitled to a free eye test and voucher scheme affiliated with Specsavers Opticians.  This entitles staff to a full eye examination up to the value of £25 and free glasses up to the value of £45.  The voucher can also be used towards a pair of your choice.


Fitness Suite

  

Free access to a fully equipped fitness gym, studios and sports hall is available for use by staff from all college centres.  This is located on the lower ground floor of the Learning Exchange on Roscoe Street


Flu Vaccinations

 

To help prevent the spread of flu at work we offer staff a free flu vaccination, providing good seasonal protection (70-80% reliability) against all flu strains.


Medicash Health Plan

   

Employees have the option to join a health cash plan to receive help with the costs of everyday healthcare and a wide range of other wellbeing benefits.

With the Medicash health plan, employees can claim funding towards a range of benefits, including prescription glasses, eye tests, dental treatments and specialist consultation fees.


Occupational Health Service

  

The College's Occupational Health Service is provided by PAM Assist. The Occupational Health Nurse Adviser will offer support if you have a health problem, and provide impartial advice to help you achieve full attendance back into work.

The Adviser will also offer support and guidance to managers in maintaining the health and wellbeing of their staff.


Reasonable Adjustments in the workplace

 

The College Group will always consider the requirement for reasonable adjustments, should a member of staff have or develop a disability or health condition that requires support. 

Staff are encouraged to disclose any disability or health condition they have or may develop, so that reasonable adjustments are made to enable individials to carry out their duties.

Staff Development

 

The College is highly committed to developing its staff. All new employees undertake a thorough induction and training programme, including training in Safeguarding, Prevent, Equality & Diversity and Health & Safety, and our values reflect a relentless desire to continuously improve our teaching and support for all students.

Regular planned, targeted training and development programmes are designed to achieve improvements, which are tailored to the needs of our curriculum, support and management staff.

A range of training courses are available, and employees may be able to access College courses at a free or discounted rate, depending on the course and its relationship to their role in College.


 Work-Life Balance


Annual Leave and Public Holidays

 

All staff have a generous annual leave entitlement: 45 days for lecturers, 35 days for management graded posts and up to 28 days for support staff; with an extra 5 or more days allocated for Christmas closure. 

This entitlement is in addition to 8 bank holidays and two extra statutory bank holidays, depending on contract.


Family Friendly Policy

  

The College has a generous family friendly policy that reflects an understanding that staff may need to work flexibly at certain times in their working life, to ensure both a healthy work-life balance, and maintain their health and wellbeing.  These include occupational maternity and paternity leave; dependent’s leave; flexible working; adoption leave; compassionate/bereavement leave and a career break scheme.
