Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities,

Level 3 Certificate

The Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities is designed to equip learners with the knowledge required in order to work with children and adults with a wide range of learning difficulties.

The course is designed for those who are currently working, or wish to work, in a job role that requires them to interact with individuals that have mild to severe learning difficulties. You will study a range of mandatory and optional units which will enable you to understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities, looking at how to develop strategies to enable individuals with behavioural difficulties to change their behaviour, and support individuals in their relationships. You will develop the skills and knowledge required to support individuals in everyday tasks and in learning and development activities, whilst promoting communication in health, social care or children's and young people's settings.

Learner, Emma Shuker joined The City of Liverpool College on a Level 1 Health and Social Care course – after her school told her not to go to college because she wouldn’t succeed. Emma worked hard and utilised all the support her tutors gave her as she continued to progress to Level 2 and then Level 3. This year her tutors are proud to see Emma graduate from Edge Hill University with a BA in Health Studies, and wish her all the best in her career.
