Vacancy Description:


Tasks and functions expected will include:

  • Offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
  • Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team.
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies

Qualifications Required:

A good level of maths and English is essential.


Training to be provided:


Business Administration Level 2 apprenticeship. This programme can be delivered through a combination of attending weekly 3 hour classes at College for 12 weeks and assessment in the workplace every 3-4 weeks. Alternatively, all delivery for the Business Administration programmes can be via workplace assessment and guided self-study. This latter option is suited for people with experience of business administration principles.

 Functional skills tuition at level 1 can also form part of the programme. This is delivered at College on the same day as the Business Administration classes.



Expected Duration:

12-15 months


Working Week:

Office hours 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday 


Future Prospects:

This is a contract for 12 months and 1 day

The successful applicant will be subject to a DBS check.



Reality Check:


Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by the Government for non-levy paying employers. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
