Trainee journalists celebrate another successful year writing for Liverpool Echo

JOURNALISM students are celebrating the end of another successful year working with the Liverpool Echo.

Students at the Arts Centre studying for the Journalism Diploma have spent the past nine months working as community reporters for the City’s paper.

Their course, accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ), involves real-life experience working as a journalist.

And they are now published journalists after a wide range of stories from across the Merseyside area made the pages of the Echo.

These have included local events, fundraising campaigns, school initiatives and awards ceremonies.

Dozens of the students articles have been published in the Echo’s dedicated Your Echo community pages (below) which are in the paper every Thursday and Saturday, with several more appearing on the paper’s website.

Journalism Lecturer Nick Baty said: “It’s great to see our students having real experience of working in a newsroom.

“We are really pleased with our on-going partnership with the Liverpool Echo and are delighted that this has led directly to many of our students gaining jobs in the industry.”
