What to expect from the course

The purpose of the two-year, part-time Higher National Certificate in Construction Management for England (Construction Site Supervisor) is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the construction and the built environment sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualification aims to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake it.

The course builds underpinning core skills and prepares students for progressing their career in industry or for further specialisation through study at Level 5. Students gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace scenarios.

    The course is delivered through a blend of lectures, seminars, tutorials, independent study and industry guest speakers.

    How will I be assessed?

    The course is assessed through a blend of assignments, presentations, practical tasks and job knowledge tasks. Each subject is awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction and the combined marks produce the final overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction for the course as a whole.

    Students may be required to purchase their own materials for any specialist projects they undertake as part of the course.

    Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

    When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

    The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

    Completion of this course provides a number of options in both education and employment and sets the you on yourway to becoming a professional within the Built Environment.

    In education, the course prepares you for a Level 5 qualification within the Construction and the Built Environment sector, bringing your professional and academic knowledge up to the required level.

    Entry Requirements

    • Level 3 BTEC National Certificate/Diploma in Construction & the Built Environment (Construction).
    • More mature students with relevant Construction experience and an advanced qualification - such as an NVQ, BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Construction or equivalent - may be eligible. In addition, mature students with level 4 or above in other relevant areas may be eligible, subject to interview. All students are expected to have a maths qualification at level 2 or above.

    Applicants should hold a total UCAS Tariff points score from relevant qualifications of at least 96 points.

    Fees

    This course is only available to learners aged 18 and over. Fees are payable by all students unless sponsored by an employer, but you may qualify for a student loan through Student Finance England towards the cost of your course and living costs.     Fee for25/26 is 3700.00
    In future years we anticipate increasing this fee in line with the annual inflation level (capped at RPI All Items Excluding Mortgage Interest (RPIX)).
