You will be taught by leading industry experts in their field who have a wealth of knowledge and skills to pass onto you. The college also offer a wide range of enrichment opportunities for you to develop your skills further these will be guest chef nights where you will get the opportunity to work alongside Michelin starred chefs producing some amazing tasting food, we have a visitor economy week were top chefs from the city come in and give master classes; butchery demonstration from our meat supplier, molecular gastronomy from our lecturers or you will visit some of the hotels in the area to see what they have to offer you. We have exciting competitions that you can be part of, these will be internal and external national competitions, many of our students have gone on to win in heats of competitions such as ‘North West Young Chef of the Year’ some have gone on to appear on ‘Great British Menu’ representing the North West. So as you can see this is not just a career choice it’s a life skill that will stick with you forever and you will develop to be the best chef and pastry chef in the industry.
The Academy Bakery is located on the Duke Street campus, producing a range of first class baked goods daily. These include artisan breads, patisserie and biscuits, as well as special occasion/novelty cakes by award-winning master-bakers. Students are offered a range of discounts throughout the year.
The Academy BakeryDuke Street is also home to The Academy Hair and Beauty salons. They offer generous student discounts on a wide range of hair and beauty treatments, at a fraction of high-street prices. These include styling, cutting, perming, highlights, facials, manicures, electrolysis and traditional and homeopathic massage.
The Academy SalonsDuke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.
The Academy RestaurantWhen you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.
The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

Entry criteria will be for learners who have progressed from any Foundation or level 1 provision.
Or
New learners that hold a range of GCSE grades of 3 and 4 or above and/or level 1 qualifications.
Or
Learners that have either have no GCSE Grade 4/C in Maths and English, or one
grade 4/C in Maths or English
An interest in the topic and good attitude to learning are important to you achieving success on this course.

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free. If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, you won't have to pay any fees for this course.
