Course Details

  • Funding has increased for UK cyber security startups since 2020, with businesses in the UK spending £136 billion a year alone on cyber. It is a fast growing, in demand industry.
  • The purpose of the Level 3 Certificate in Cyber Security Practices is to provide you with a sector awareness. It will provide the you with a chance to develop knowledge and skills relating to cyber security practices with the view to seeking employment or proceeding to further study in this area.
  • Choosing the City of Liverpool College will also allow you to develop practice skills with having access to our off-network computer room, our forensic computer and our rubber ducky!
  • The course will run across the academic year and place one day a week 9am – 2pm.

Learners must complete the 6 mandatory units via portfolio

(There is opportunity to add Level 2 introduction to coding to your studies, L2 in understanding data protection and security, L2 employability as well as Maths and English)

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

The objectives of this qualification are to:
• provide you with a chance to develop knowledge and skills relating to cyber security practices.

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:
• Level 4 Diploma in Cyber Security Version
• Level 4 Certificate for IT Professionals
• Level 4 Certificate in Information and Cyber Security Foundations
• Level 4 Certificate in Cyber Security and Intrusion for Business.

Entry Requirements

Learners aged 19+ only.

Learners would be required to have completed a level 2 in either IT or cyber security and at least have a level 1 or equivalent in English.

Telephone conversation will be held to discuss course prior to starting.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free. If you are aged 19 or over you may be entitled to a fee waiver for your course or you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your course. In future years this fee may be subject to change.

Please note this is a two year programme that consists of two courses. Your fee status may change from one year to the next depending on age and circumstance at the start of the next course e.g. if you turn 19 before progressing to the next level, you may be required to pay fees as outlined above.
