What to expect from the course

The course “Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship” equips learners with essential skills to launch and run their own enterprise. From understanding the significance of enterprise to developing financial acumen and practical business strategies, this course prepares individuals for success in entrepreneurship. With a focus on hands-on learning, teamwork, and real-world application, learners will be ready to navigate the challenges and opportunities of starting and running a successful business.

In the first year of the Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, learners will cover six units. These include:

Unit 1: Enterprise and Entrepreneurs - focusing on the importance of enterprise and the mindset of entrepreneurs.
Unit 2: Personal and Business Finance - covering managing personal and business finances.
Unit 3: Launching and Running an Enterprise - developing skills to launch and run an enterprise.
Unit 4: Market Research and Planning for an Enterprise - focusing on researching opportunities and creating a business plan.
Unit 5: Branding and Promotion for an Enterprise - covering creating a marketing strategy and promoting the enterprise.
Unit 6: Pitching and Presenting an Enterprise Idea - preparing learners to pitch their enterprise idea to an external audience.

Qualifications

Your Pathway to Entrepreneurial Success

Our Enterprise and Entrepreneurship program is structured to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to launch and manage your own business venture. The program is delivered in two stages:

Year 1: Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Enterprise: This initial year provides a strong foundation in core business principles, fostering your entrepreneurial spirit and developing essential skills like market analysis, financial planning, and marketing strategies.
Year 2: Level 3 Extended Diploma in Enterprise (Optional): In this advanced year, you'll delve deeper into the intricacies of running a successful business. Gain valuable insights through case studies, simulations, and real-world projects, ultimately preparing you to confidently navigate the challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship. The Extended Diploma is equivalent to a further one and a half A levels, providing you with a strong academic foundation for further studies or direct entry into the workforce.
This two-year program is designed to be flexible, allowing you to exit with a Level 3 Foundation Diploma or progress to the Extended Diploma and gain a well-rounded qualification equivalent to 3 A Levels.

Academy Bakery

The Academy Bakery is located on the Duke Street campus, producing a range of first class baked goods daily. These include artisan breads, patisserie and biscuits, as well as special occasion/novelty cakes by award-winning master-bakers. Students are offered a range of discounts throughout the year.

Academy Hair and Beauty Salons

Duke Street is also home to The Academy Hair and Beauty salons. They offer generous student discounts on a wide range of hair and beauty treatments, at a fraction of high-street prices. These include styling, cutting, perming, highlights, facials, manicures, electrolysis and traditional and homeopathic massage.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

Entry Requirements

The Enterprise and Entrepreneurship program at City of Liverpool College is designed for individuals with the drive and ambition to succeed in the world of business ownership. To join us on this exciting journey, you'll need to meet the following entry requirements:

Minimum qualification: A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) at Grade C/Level 4 or above.
Subject requirements: This must include either Maths or English Language at Level 4 or above.
Desirable skills: A demonstrable interest in business and entrepreneurship is highly desirable. Relevant work experience or prior business ventures would be a plus.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free. If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t have a Full Level 3 qualification, you won't have to pay any fees for this course.

24 years old or over or 19-23 and hold a Full Level 3 qualification at the start of the course? Fees are payable, but you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your course. Please note this is a two year programme that consists of two courses. Your fee status may change from one year to the next depending on age and circumstance at the start of the next course e.g. if you turn 19 before progressing to the next level, you may be required to pay fees as outlined above.
