What to expect from the course
- Welcome to the Fashion Design and Sewing Machine course at The City of Liverpool College, starting this January with convenient evening classes. This 10-week course provides a total of 20 hours of instruction, perfect for those who wish to learn the basics of sewing machine skills in a flexible and supportive environment. Our expert instructors will guide you through hands-on workshops, where you'll master essential sewing techniques. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to brush up on your skills, this course lays the foundation for further advanced studies in fashion design, textiles, and garment construction. Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Microsoft Office 365 - Free
When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.
Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite
The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.
Career pathways
- After completing this course, you can progress to more advanced sewing and fashion design courses. This foundation will enable you to take on projects with greater complexity and potentially pursue further education or a career in fashion design, textiles, or garment construction. You may consider courses such as our one-day advanced garment construction course or our full time Level 2 and Level 3 fashion Design courses

Entry Requirements
Be 19 or over on the 31st August.
Have a keen interest in fashion design, textiles, and sewing.
Be committed to attending evening classes once a week for 2 hours.
No prior sewing experience is required.
Fees
If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free.
