What to expect from the course

Welcome to the Pattern Cutting and Garment Construction course, designed for adults seeking to enhance their skills in the fashion industry. This one day per week, daytime course provides comprehensive training in using industrial machinery and understanding safe working procedures. Over the duration of the course, you will practice cutting and sewing techniques, producing garments to industry standards. Our expert instructors will guide you through each step, ensuring you gain the skills needed for advanced studies or a career in fashion design and garment construction.

You'll have the opportunity to work on various industrial machines and ensuring safe operations. Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.


Career pathways

After completing this course, you can progress to more advanced sewing and fashion design courses. This foundation will enable you to take on projects with greater complexity and potentially pursue further education or a career in fashion design, textiles, or garment construction.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, you should:

Be aged 19 or over on the 31st August

Have a keen interest in fashion design and garment construction

Be committed to attending daytime classes for 32 weeks

Have a basic level of understanding and knowledge of domestic or industrial sewing machines. Initial assessments of skills to support your progress will take place in the first 4 weeks of the course.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free.
