  • This course will have three entry points in the year October, January and May.
  • This course will require it to be full to permit it to run at any of these points.

  • Open to all ages.
  • Studied in our Duke Street campus.

What to expect from the course

The Level 2 Food Hygiene course is designed for anyone who works with or handles food and wants to meet the UK food hygiene training requirements. In this course you will learn about the impact of food-borne illnesses, food safety hazards and contamination, food preservation, storage and temperature control, as well as HACCP.

The Award in Food Safety in Catering can help you meet the minimum requirements laid down by the EU (European Union) to work within a food environment.

The Food Safety in Catering qualifications are suitable for anybody, whether in a supervisory position or those working directly with food.

You'll cover the following content:

-food safety legislation
-personal hygiene
-keeping work areas clean and tidy
-identifying and resolving food safety issues.
-catering practices


You will complete one core unit to achieve this qualification: Food Safety in Catering. This will include a written exam which will be taken at the end of the training day.

The course will be face to face study, the qualification is accredited by City and Guilds

The course will be for one full day usually starting at 9am and finishing at 5pm.

This course will have three entry points in the year October, January and April.
This course will require it to be full to permit it to run at any of these points.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free.
