Course Details

  • From September 2024 we will be offering a completely online Level 3 Access to H.E Diploma for students who want to progress into a health-related degree programme.
  • If you are someone who wants to achieve a Level 3 qualification so that you can progress onto university but work and/or family commitments mean that you can not physically attend college, then this course could be the answer.
  • Students will have access to an innovative, personalised and responsive online platform that will allow you to learn at a time and pace that suits you.
  • In addition to the online learning environment, you will also have an experienced and supportive tutor from The City of Liverpool College (COLC) who you will deliver some online sessions and offer virtual tutorials to support you with your assignments.
  • You will be expected to achieve a minimum of 45 credits from the Graded Topics being covered and additionally a further 15 credits will come from Ungraded Topics, which will be integrated within the Graded Topics during the assessment process.
  • This course is fully accredited by SEG (The Skills and Education Group).

What to expect from the course

What to expect from the course:

The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a full Level 3 qualification, which is the equivalent to 3 A-Levels, it also attracts UCAS tariff points.
You will cover a range of modules from Human Biology including:
- Infection and Immunity
- The Nervous System
- Human Reproduction
- Human Musculoskeletal System
Additionally, there will be modules in:
- Psychology
- Health Promotion
- Mental Health
- Poverty in Contemporary Britain
There are further modules that will aid in your academic development and with your application to university.
We have considerable experience and expertise of the subject matter and working with adult learners, who may have taken either a short or a long break from formal education.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

Entry Requirements

You must be aged 19 or over to study this qualification.

You will need a GCSE grade 4/C or above in English and Maths.

Fees

This course is only available to learners aged 19 and over. If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t have 2 A-Levels (or equivalent), you won't have to pay any fees for this course.

24 years old or over or 19-23 and have 2 A-Levels (or equivalent) at the start of the course? Fees are payable, but you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your course.
