  • Within this course you will develop your skills and work on industry style projects in our state-of-the-art Digital Academy from subject experts.
  • This course is a 1-year Diploma taught over 3 or 4 days, with the opportunity to study Maths and English alongside at GCSE if not already achieved.
  • Start: September. Full academic year (September – June).

Mobile App Development
Automated Computer Systems
Computer Security in Practice
Computer Networks

You will research the online world and technology systems, design and create a mobile app, learn about networking and creating your own network, install hardware into computers as part of your assignment and learn how this can be maintained. Finally, you will learn the importance of computer security and apply your knowledge in securing machines in our computer hardware room.

How is it assessed? You will be internally assessed through assignments set and marked by your teachers. Work will be graded at a Pass, Merit or Distinction. Two externally assessed exams at the end of the year.

Your study programme: 19+ BTEC Level 2 Extended Diploma in Information and Creative Technology.

Opportunity to develop Maths and English and attain a GCSE at grade 4.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.


Career pathways

On successful completion of this course, and achieving a maths and English grade 4 at GCSE, you’ll be ready to progress onto our Access to HE course in Digital and IT. There is also an opportunity to progress into our Level 3 Diploma in Games Development.

Entry Requirements

Open to learners aged 19 and over. Applicants should preferably have either a grade 4 in maths or English however these can be studied alongside the course.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free. If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, you won't have to pay any fees for this course.
