The Higher National Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required for employment in specialist engineering environments or further study in Engineering. The course develops students as professional, self-reflecting individuals who are able to meet the demands of employers in the rapidly evolving engineering sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualification also aims to widen access to higher education and enhance students' career prospects.
This course embeds the development of key skills throughout the programme. Students will develop attributes and strengths required by twenty-first century employers. On completion of this course, students may wish to progress to further study at Level 5 on the Higher National Diploma in Engineering.

This programme is delivered through in-person teaching. Should government guidance or public heath advice change in-year, students will be able to continue their studies with a blend of in-person and remote learning, supported by additional safety measures on campus.

How will I be taught?
The teaching and learning strategies used to promote these skills are developed through the programme outlined above. Analysis and problem-solving skills are developed through coursework and laboratory/workshop activities. Practical, research and design skills are developed through coursework, assignments and laboratory/workshop activities.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment of this course is through practical activities, activity write-ups, coursework/ research reports and project reports and presentations.
Additional Costs
Students may be required to purchase their own materials for any specialist projects they undertake as part of the course.

The City of Liverpool College has up-to-date equipment and software to complement or prepare students for work in the engineering industries. Day release students are encouraged to complete a work-based project.

The Academy RestaurantWhen you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.
The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

• A* to C/ 4-9 grade in GCSE Maths
• BTEC Level 3 qualification in Engineering (MPP Grade)
• GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This should be supported by GCSE grades at A* to C/ 4-9 (or equivalent)

• Access to Higher Education Certificate awarded by an approved
