What to expect from the course

You will develop practical skills in the following practical units:
Follow Health & Safety practice in the salon
Client care & communication in beauty-related industries
Provide manicure treatments
Provide Pedicure treatments
Provide and maintain nail enhancements
Provide nail art treatments
Provide LED Gel Polish
Preparing to run a hair & beauty business

Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety
practices in a salon environment and how to promote client care and communications in
beauty related sectors. You will also develop an underpinning knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.

You will be practically assessed in an real working environment.
Underpinning knowledge will be assessed through 7 online exams and assignment.

Duke Street is also home to The Academy Hair and Beauty salons. They offer generous student discounts on a wide range of hair and beauty treatments, at a fraction of high-street prices. These include styling, cutting, perming, highlights, facials, manicures, electrolysis and traditional and homeopathic massage.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

When you have successfully completed this qualification you can progress to the following VTCT qualifications:

Level 3 Diploma in Nail Services

Progression opportunities also exist in the form of specialist VTCT vocationally related
qualifications:
Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques

This qualification may lead directly into employment in the nail services industry, providing a range of nail services.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade 4 (previously C) or above including Maths and English Language OR a minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above including Maths and English Language and relevant subject qualification OR a minimum of Level 2 course in your chosen subject at merit or above and English Language and Maths at Level 2.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free. If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, you won't have to pay any fees for this course.
