Course Details

  • This full time course is delivered over 3 or 4 days a week with a focus on the transition to vocational study, internship and employment. With a dedicated learning environment based at the Learning Exchange you will take part in a series of projects which build on your skills and knowledge, developing your confidence and organisational skills within a large educational environment whilst preparing you for further study, internship and employment
  • Throughout your study you will receive support from our passionate and friendly teaching and care team. You will have opportunity to take part in educational visits and work placements to boost your skills set and employability..
  • The Entry 3 programme provides a flexible approach to developing skills, whilst preparing learners for the more structured study within higher level study. Learners will be able to explore a range of vocational areas before choosing an area to focus sessions in term 3.

What to expect from the course

The Pathways Team at The City of Liverpool College offers programmes for people with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities in a supportive environment which caters for needs both personal and academic, where experienced and committed staff adopt a person centred approach. We work closely with schools, external agencies, transition teams and social workers to ensure a smooth and effective move to Further Education takes place.

Our Aim:

• To develop strategies and overcome barriers, personal and academic
• To support you throughout your path to employment or training and development.


What is Entry 3 Employability Skills?

Entry 3 Employability Skills supports reading development of writing, listening and speaking skills. it also covers managing money, time management and personal budgeting. On this Programme, we also deliver functional skills in maths and English.
You'll have the opportunity for both vocational work placements and mainstream workshops. We offer a range of classroom based and practical activities to underpin employability including enterprise, volunteering, educational visits and enrichment and independence. This is a full- time programme over two and a half days.

Academy Bakery

The Academy Bakery is located on the Duke Street campus, producing a range of first class baked goods daily. These include artisan breads, patisserie and biscuits, as well as special occasion/novelty cakes by award-winning master-bakers. Students are offered a range of discounts throughout the year.

Duke Street is also home to The Academy Hair and Beauty salons. They offer generous student discounts on a wide range of hair and beauty treatments, at a fraction of high-street prices. Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

This course could lead into employment, supported internship or a Level 1 Programme at the College.

Entry Requirements

Please note, this is available only for applicants age 16-19 and 16-25 with an EHCP. Direct entry is through a small information interview with a member of the pathways teaching team and an assessment with the additional support team.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free. If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, you won't have to pay any fees for this course.
