About the Apprenticeship
Ensuring that buildings are in a safe working condition.

About the Role
The primary role of a Property Maintenance Operative is to optimise property condition and quality and to ensure the building is kept in a safe working condition. Property Maintenance Operatives need to maintain a high level of quality, providing maximum satisfaction to customers, clients, guests and team. They will understand the mechanism of buildings including electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment. They will provide first and immediate response to fault finding, whilst maximising quality and ensuring cost effectiveness. They will ensure prevention of major damage that could result in extensive costs and minimise reactive intervention.


On-Programme Learning
Apprentices need to complete 20% off-the-job training during the on-programme phase of their apprenticeship.Specific rules govern this and it must take place in the apprentice’s contracted hours

KnowledgeProperty Maintenance Operatives will have a knowledge of the safe use of hand tools and will comply with organisational safety, policies and procedures and identify hazards and reduce them. Property Maintenance Operatives will understand and demonstrate the principles of Planned Preventative Maintenance, and demonstrate and understand the importance of the control of resources and stock. They will record and report information accurately either internally or externally.

Skills
Property maintenance operatives will be able to be able to carry out repairs to the fabric of a building,, including understanding and maintaining plumbing and drainage systems, plant, safety systems and equipment, electrical distribution and safe repair of electrical installation to legal requirements. They will demonstrate and implement energy, environment and sustainable practices and under-stand and maintain grounds and external fabrication of a building, such as drainage and guttering.

Apprentices will be able to demonstrate their responsibilities towards their own and others safety in the work place. They will have a strong work ethic, motivated, reliable and adaptable. They will have a good attention to detail, quality and continuous improvement and an awareness of the businesses mission, aims, markets, products and services. Apprentices will be customer focused attitude and use effective communication in a team or with clients.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.


Career pathways

Apprentices will be well placed to progress onto Level 3 construction crafts and building services programmes and apprenticeships, such as plumbing, electrical, plastering or joinery.

    Entry Requirements

    Entry requirements are typically determined b y the employer, but generally include 5 GCSE' s grade A-C, or ability to demonstrate the a ppropriate knowledge, skills and competency l evels.
