What to expect from the course

This qualification is for learners who want to work within the barbering industry. The qualification consists of 1 mandatory unit; covering a minimum of 30 hours of Guided Learning (GL) to achieve the full qualification.

The main skills the learner will perform are:
To provide shaving services – using the correct tools and equipment to prepare the face and provide the shaving service. The learner will also develop knowledge of related health and safety, client care, communication skills and providing aftercare advice which are essential to work and be successful in the barbering industry.

This qualification provides:

Specialist skills at level 3 for those working in the barbering industry.

Opportunities for staff in the barbering industry to gain a level 3 qualification.
Provide opportunities for staff in the barbering industry to gain CPD at level 3, the related knowledge and understanding required to perform the skills outlined above.

Opportunities for learners to focus on the development of their wider skills in shaving services such as communicating with clients, working with others and problem solving.

Opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in employment in the barbering industry.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.


Career pathways

Once learners have achieved the VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Award in Provide Shaving Services they may progress on to other VTCT (ITEC) or equivalent qualifications at level 2 and 3 for example:

Entry Requirements

It is recommended that learners must hold a Level 2 Diploma in Barbering or equivalent.

Fees

This course is only available to learners aged 19 and over. Fees are payable by all students unless sponsored by an employer.

Fee for24/25 is 500.00
In future years this fee may be subject to change.
